Housing Information

If you've never purchased a house in Everquest 2, there are many things to consider when making your selection. Which city do you live in? How much additonal storage (vault) spaces do you need? How many broker slots will you use? Do you want to pay with just coin, or status too?

Starter housing

Each player gets a free starter house in her/her home city. It will cost you nothing to purchase, but is 5 silver each week in rent (upkeep). These houses have just one room and a 100 item limit for things that can be placed inside. They also have 2 broker slots and 2 vault spaces available.

Item Limit

Each house has a maximum number of items that may be placed inside. The smaller the house, the fewer the items. As a general rule books don't count toward the item limit, but everything else will. You can always purchase a crafted vault expander to expand the item limit by 100, but only one may be used on a time.

When you're ready to upgrade

When you are ready for a larger home, it's likely because you've collected so many trophies and comforts for your house, you're need more storage/selling space, or you just want to live in a more convenient area of town, there are several options available to you. Each of the city links below will give more detailed information on where those houses are, how much they cost, amount of storage space, etc. Just remember, unless you have done a quest to move your home city, you can only live in the city your character started in (even if it's of the same alignment as the new one: Freeportians will still need to do a quest for permission to live in Neriak, for example). There is no need to pick up (or pack up) all your things to move. When you have found the new house you want, simply purchase it from the door and all your items will be moved for you. Stepping inside your new home, you will have a fresh canvas to work with and all your things will be packed away neatly in a moving crate.

Living in Maj'Dul

Player housing is also available in the Desert of Flames expansion city of Maj'Dul. This is generally the only option available to residents of Haven (which has no housing, since they're living as exiles). To purchase a house in Maj'Dul, you must first purchase a residency license from one of the three Court factions within the city (Blades, Coin or Truth). The better your faction with the Court, the bigger the house you are allowed to purchase.

Access Levels

There are several access levels you can set for your house and guild hall to allow visitors and friends to enter and see all your hard work.

Guild Halls have the same access levels with the same permissions, but the amenities are tied to them also. Check out the Guild Hall page for more information on amenities and permissions.

Guild Halls

Guilds of level 30 and above are entitled to the purchase of a Guild Hall. These also come in different sizes and price ranges. Varying access levels can be set for guild members and visitors, but only the Guild Leader may actually purchase the Hall - and it must be of the same alignment as that character (a 'good' toon can't purchase a guild hall in Freeport, for example). The two styles of halls (good and evil) are vastly different from each other, but each have very complex and unique architecture - be very sure to tour each one before you buy!
